Phantom limb
The raven wings flapped at midnight, Harmonizing with my deepest despair, The red liquid lost its taste, While I caress your tear streaked face. There’s no way to cheat death, I learned this lesson when you died. The ghost of winter’s dawn hides in the snow, Tantalizing me to give up and part ways with life. From the core of midday’s amber, And through the lightless umbra, My promises are here still, although you died, Will God really rejoin our souls? My open letter rests inside your closed casket, Whence fate stole all our plans and left me tears… The cursed touch that further crushed our bond, Terrorizing my brain when I'm sober, This phantom limb feeling, That grows within my suffering. Once I had my kingdom of pure gold, But from my Queen's hand I lost it's hold. The flickering flame hides the ashes, Cauterizing your name inside my own, The pain should never overcome the sweetness, For your strength hid my weakness. I curse the day you were gone, But smile when the memories flash. My open wound will never heal, Nor do I want it to… The hole in my heart seeps your love still, But it'll flow everlasting… The bittersweet memories swirls, Because I held them dear… The death of love and a life undone, Fate stole all our dreams and took you from me. …Forestalling our fairy tale, A kiss goodbye on your cheek, My hand as cold as yours caresses your hair one last time, My eternal love will be yours forevermore. My open letter rests inside your closed casket, Scribbles of my sincerest words, for my Queen… with all my love. By: Jason Rodrigues
